UniCities at the 7th Ukrainian Women’s Congress: Joint steps to changes
On November 22, 2023, at the 7th Ukrainian Women’s Congress, Veronika Khudolei, Rector of International Science and Technology University, presented the UniCities project and its significance for the education sector and international change agents. The discussion was part of a panel discussion on “Education is the Energy of Ukraine’s Future”.
The Ukrainian Women’s Congress is a significant public platform that defines gender policy for various branches of government and society in Ukraine. It was founded in 2017 by members of parliament Olena Kondratiuk, Maria Ionova, Svitlana Voitsekhovska, and Alyona Babak.
This year’s event was opened by the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk, emphasizing the crucial role of women and men in rebuilding a modern and developed Ukraine. The Ukrainian Women’s Congress brought together top state officials, including the First Lady Olena Zelenska, members of the Government Yulia Svyrydenko, Olga Stefanyshyna, Oksana Zholnovych, Yulia Laputina, Iryna Mudra, Hanna Hvozdyar and many others. In addition, the event gathered the United States Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, representatives of civil society and international organizations, including UNDP and USAID, the media, local governments, Ukrainian and foreign experts, and all those who care about gender equality.
The “Education is the Energy of Ukraine’s Future” panel discussion made it possible to discuss contemporary threats to global and Ukrainian education and emphasize the crucial role of cooperation in rebuilding Ukraine. Veronika Khudolei focused on the mission of the UniCities project to promote a new vision and development of Ukrainian cities, implement the Green Deal, and achieve climate neutrality. During the discussion of innovative ideas and perspectives, the event participants learned more about the project and expressed interest in its future results.
