Smart City Business Forum and Smart City Expo 2023: a joint path to climate-neutral and smart cities

On November 06, 2023, delegations from UniCities and Viable Cities joined the Smart City Business Forum in Barcelona, organized by Cleantech Scandinavia and the Dutch government, during a study visit to Spain. The exciting event brought together about 500 European and international experts and specialists to discuss pressing issues related to the creation of climate-neutral and smart cities.

The main focus of this year’s event was on the role of cities in the energy transition and the business potential of technology solutions that can make this transition a reality. Particular attention was paid to the role of the private sector in achieving the goals of cities, creating opportunities for public-private partnerships, establishing cooperation between them, and taking steps to accelerate urban transformation. Important experience, practical cases, and best practices will be taken into account, adapted, and implemented to further the goals and objectives of the UniCities project.

The event’s program covered keynote speeches by top experts, networking and workshops on various issues of cities and green innovations. The event became a global meeting point for top executives, city representatives, and academics from around the world to discuss the future of modern cities in the face of global challenges.
