UniCities: Formation of environmental awareness of youth

On March 17, 2025, Veronika Khudolei, Rector of the Academician Yuriy Bugay International Scientific and Technical University, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and expert at the Green Transformation and Climate Neutrality Center, gave a lecture to 8-9th grade students of Lyceum №32 “SUCCESS.” The main topic was the achievement of climate neutrality by Ukrainian cities and the role of the younger generation in this process.

The event was part of the international Erasmus+ UniCities project, which unlocks the potential of Ukrainian universities to develop sustainable and climate-neutral cities. The UniCities project team is proud of how universities and centers established within the initiative actively engage young people in environmental discussions and real change.

During the lecture, Veronika Khudolei emphasized the importance of environmental culture and innovative solutions to minimize environmental impact. The students learned more about using innovative technologies to reduce the adverse effects on the environment, sustainable development goals, and the role of each citizen in achieving climate neutrality.

ISTU and the Green Transformation and Climate Neutrality Center continue implementing the best European practices in ecology, urbanism, and sustainable development. As part of UniCities, new lectures, workshops, and events for young people are already planned to help expand knowledge about environmental safety and inspire active participation in creating the cities of the future.

Together, we are shaping a responsible attitude towards the environment and our future!
